i watched you blowing slowly in the breeze
and took the time of seasons to know true
what beauty forms you before other trees
that you stand out to my eye as you do!
what specter revealed you in the dark night
that outlined your brave limbs and leaves and roots
by halo glowing to keep true my sight
along your long developing branch fruit
to inspire in my lowly body's drive
a noble courage to sit by your trunk
the while it took to hear your thicket invite
me to climb as high as your roots are sunk
but the specter of your seedling acorn---
the power that planted you! Earth Gem born!
