there's peace for us to have and hold
with only a wave to handle
and wind before a candle
neither can slow us down
or cause in us despair
each morning a stone
rolls up a mountain stair
and slow proud smoke
follows the afternoon
chasing fading light
above a cloud are those
who teach us how to defend
and how to be teachers
each night we walk
with thoughts of our friends
around the moon are seven mile halos
in every state of every union
this is always true
while the wind helps us along
the night remains blue
